Eastern Canal Trail & Shared Use Path

project OVERVIEW

Y2K Engineering provided design services for 2.3 miles of new twelve-foot wide paved multi-use path adjacent to the existing SRP Eastern Canal from Brown Road to Broadway Road in Mesa, Arizona. The Eastern Canal path is one of multiple diagonal routes that traverse the entire City footprint, and this project is just one phase of the canal path with a focus on improving pedestrian/ bicycle facilities and crossings that Y2K has worked on with the City of Mesa. The project included six (6) traffic signals, ADA accessible driveway and intersection crossing design, pavement plan and profile design, signing/pavement marking and new LED path lighting with decorative poles. Extensive utility coordination was required with SRP as the canal has both transmission and irrigation facilities. Y2K obtained lidar survey along the project limits and modeled the traffic signals to show clearances from SRP’s transmission poles.
