Mineral Mobility Improvements – Littleton, CO

project OVERVIEW

Y2K was part of the project team to identify and design multimodal upgrades within a one-mile mobility shed east of the Mineral Avenue Light Rail station to provide safe multimodal options for cyclists and pedestrians. Field observations, analysis, and extensive brainstorming generated a suite of alternatives for consideration. Y2K led the safety analysis of the area and identified multimodal safety improvements. A tiered alternative screening process was done to determine the recommended improvements along two roadway corridors, an off-street pathway, and spot treatments at five intersections and crossings.

Once the preferred alternatives were selected, Y2K led the final design of a corridor and two spot locations to advance implementation of recommended improvements. This design includes a buffered bike lane, traffic calming elements, and trail crossing improvements. Elements identified as part of this proposed project will result in a safe and complete first and last mile of transit trips experience that will encourage more active users in the area.
