Y2K has offices in Denver, Colorado and Phoenix, Arizona while serving clients throughout the country.

Y2K is growing and looking to add a Planner II or III to its transportation planning group. Y2K is supportive of a hybrid work schedule, while requesting this individual to live in the metro Denver or Phoenix areas.

Position Overview

The Transportation Planner II or III is responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of transportation plans, projects, and initiatives. This role involves applying engineering principles and transportation planning expertise to improve the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of transportation systems.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis:

  1. Collect and analyze transportation data including traffic volume, travel patterns, and accident statistics.

  2. Use data analysis to identify trends and present information to key decision makers for transportation improvements.

Communication and Community Engagement:

  1. a. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including urban planners, transportation engineers, and government agencies to ensure seamless integration of transportation projects.

  2. Participate in public engagement activities, including community meetings and presentations, to gather input on transportation projects and address concerns.

  3. Promote company culture, focused on core principles and behaviors representative of Y2K Engineering.

Alternative Analysis and Scenario Development:

  1. a. Conduct technical analysis for alternative and scenario development of goals, objections, evaluation measures, alternative and scenario options, and identification of results.

  2. Development of technical memorandums and reports, data analysis and visualization that is supported by the organizations planning team.

Planning and Design:

  1. Contribute to the planning and design of transportation projects, considering factors such as traffic flow, safety, environmental impact, and community needs.

  2. Develop and oversee the creation of transportation plans and reports inclusive of the project goals, data analysis, community input, key findings, strategy development, and implementation.

  3. Lead and support project management efforts that include detailed delivery schedule, sub-consultant contracts, scope development, and client relations.

  4. Lead and support public involvement plan development and implementation of in person and online engagement efforts.

  5. Understanding of the importance of delivering a comprehensive report that is based on understanding the key findings, and the story it tells.

  6. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.

  • 8+ years relevant work experience in Transportation Planning.

  • AICP certification, preferred.

  • Proficient or Fluent Spanish, preferred.

  • Proven experience in transportation planning and project management, with a focus on municipal and regional planning.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.

  • Strong written, verbal, and public-speaking skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to correctly solve complex problems and issues without regular supervision.

  • Proficient use and fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Travel Expectations:

· Travel will be on an as-needed basis for client meetings, project site visits or other project tasks. Mainly occurring in Arizona, Colorado, and the Western US.

Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment.

  • Flexibility to work various schedules.

  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate fluent English verbally and in writing.

  • Mobility required within an office and construction site environments.

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

$79,000 to $124,000 annually
